A New Hope

It’s been 10 years since I started my Reiki journey, and in that time I have practiced on myself and family. Now my daughters are both young adults, but I still remember practicing the attunement ritual on them when they were young.

My youngest daughter has been particularly sensitive to unseen energy, similar to me, but she started much earlier on in her unfolding. I think she was around 9 years old when she first had an awakening at a crystal shop.

Whilst she still encounters energy spots whilst out, she has never really expressed an interest in knowing more about the phenomena, and in truth is a little apprehensive of the unknown and the realm that awaits on the other side.

Last week, she was out walking our dog, when she noticed a discarded object in the shape of a cross; similar to that which might sit atop a bishop’s mitre. Upon bringing it home she mentioned how she could feel energy off it.

As we were talking about what it might mean, she mentioned that she could feel energy coming from her hands. I then asked if she would like to learn Reiki, and remarkably, she said yes.

This self intention, to become more aware of her true nature, led to an awakening of the spirit within, and she soon exclaimed that the energy was now also coming out of her feet. There was no ritual, no sacred symbolism or mantras, just simple, pure awakening.

As I had a sore back, I asked if she would like to use her gift to share Reiki with me. For one still young, and without knowing what to do other than stick her hands out, I was very surprised to feel a strong flow of energy. She could feel this too, and afterwards she said how calm and peaceful she felt.

What was interesting is that she suffers with generalised anxiety on a daily basis, and I think quite possibly this was the first time that she experienced a calm mind. You could see the transformation on her face; the realisation that there is a new hope.
